Hey everyone! Let's get into the design factor first. At the front and backside, Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is built with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The glossy finish on the mobile looks fresh and refined.
The phone feels so solid and sturdy to handle. At the top, we have a secondary noise cancellation mic and an IR blaster, which is the unique property of Redmi mobiles. At the bottom, a speaker, a type C charging port, a primary mic, and a 3.5mm headphone jack is setup.
The SIM card slot, which can support 2 SIM + 1 SD card (expandable up to 512 GB), is positioned at the left side. On the right side, the volume rockers button, and a power button is positioned. Here, the fingerprint sensor is side-mounted on the power button that unlocks the mobile with average speed and accuracy.
The P2I splash-proof feature saves the mobile from water or dust repellent, which seems to be a positive move of Redmi. The mobile weighs 208 gms, which is slightly heavy due to the presence of 5020mAh battery capacity. Overall, the design looks so fresh, attractive, and solid.
Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has a Full HD+ resolution in 6.67 inch IPS LCD. The mobile has 20:9 aspect ratio with 84.7% screen to body ratio. Sadly, we have a 60Hz refresh rate display.
But, if give more importance to refresh rate or if you are an intense gamer, you might consider Poco X2 with the same price range, and that offers a 120Hz refresh rate. You can read the review from our site.
The thin bezels around the sides look pretty neat and provide the feeling of a bezel-less display. However, there is a center punch hole camera at the top that acts as a 32MP selfie shooter. Overall, the display performs great in reproducing punchy, vibrant, and vivid colours.
This model runs with a powerful Snapdragon 720G chipset with Adreno 618 GPU. This processor performs so well, while playing high-resolution graphics games, and you won't notify any lagging or heating issues.
Since it is a Snapdragon 720G chipset, we have NAVIC support for location tracking instead of GPS. The smartphone is skinned with Xiaomi's OS MIUI 11 and runs on the Android 10 operating system.
With the help of Wide1 L1 certification, we can stream HD videos from OTT platforms seamlessly. To provide speedy transfer and storage, the company has provided with UFS 2.1 storage support.
The major negative of Redmi smartphones is ADS. A high number of ads are popping up in many apps and in notifications too.
A Quad camera setup at the back of Redmi Note 9 Pro Max---The primary 64MP camera with f1.89 offers high detailed images with good dynamic range and white balance in perfect lighting conditions.
The brand wins the competition in low light output shots. Low light mode performs so well in grabbing the light intensively and offering better quality pictures.
The next 8MP ultra-wide camera with f2.2 captures sharp and crisp pictures to some extent with a decent dynamic range. Overall, the ultra-wide camera works decent but not so exceptional.
The 5MP macro sensor works so exceptionally that it captures rich images with more punchy and crispy details. The macro camera output shots make the brand standing at a unique place in the competitive crowd.
The final 2MP depth sensor camera has improved so well this time in making great quality edge detections and background blur while capturing portrait shots.
The 32MP selfie camera with f2.25 works seamlessly in providing vibrant and high dynamic range pictures. Like rear camera edge detections and background blur improved over quality in offering better portrait selfie outputs.
For sure, the selfie camera won't disappoint the selfie lovers with high detailed selfie shots.
The 4K videos can be recorded at 30fps without the Electronic image stabilisation support. The EIS is enabled while capturing 1080p videos @ 30/60fps and 720p videos @30fps.
Though Snapdragon 720G doesn't have the support to shoot slow-motion videos @ 960fps, Redmi makes it possible through software optimisation. And, the positive note over here, we can shoot selfie slow-motion videos @120fps and normal 1080p and 720p selfie videos @30fps.
The battery capacity of Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is 5020mAh and charging range of 33w. If you are a battery oriented user, you might consider Samsung Galaxy M31, which provides 6000mAh battery capacity in the same price range.
You can read the review from our site. It usually takes 30 - 35 mins to reach 0 % to 50 %. However, if you perform normal day to day multitasks, the mobile stays alive for one full day without any struggles.
Redmi Note 9 Pro Max's price is fixed at 16,999 INR with a base variant of 6GB + 64GB in India. We feel that the company could have increased the storage space to 128GB for this price range.
If you need more storage space and need better performance than this phone, you might consider Moto One Fusion Plus priced at 16,999 INR.
Though Redmi has packed all the powered features to this model, we feel that the price of this smartphone is a bit higher on comparing with the features and specs of other rivals.
Redmi has provided all the powerful features in this phone. But due to the GST increase in India, The brand has increased the price of 2000 INR, and now it is fixed at 16,999 INR.
As of now, at this price range, many rivals are there with better storage and better chipset. Despite if you need improved and exceptional cameras performance, you could pick this.
