1. 5G feature
2. Fluid AMOLED display
3. Sleek and stylish design
4. 90Hz refresh rate
Hey geeks. Let's start with the design aspect first. The external look of Oneplus 8 is made with a 3D Corning Gorilla glass body at the front and back. The sides are made of metals, and the glass back looks so glossy and classy to handle.
Since the glass back captures fingerprints marks easily, it is advisable to protect it with a back case. On the right side, the slider and a power button are placed. The secondary noise cancellation mic is positioned at the top, and a volume rocker key is placed at the left of the mobile.
A primary mic, a type C charging port, a dual nano-SIM tray, and a speaker is set at the bottom. Though the mobile has a 4300mAh battery capacity, it weighs only 184 gms and feels light to hold. Overall, the design and build quality are so solid, stylish, and ungraded.
The 6.55-inch display panel of Oneplus 8 is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass, and the display supports FHD+ resolution, whereas the Oneplus 8 pro supports QHD+ resolution. You can read the review of Oneplus 8 pro from our site. The 90Hz refresh rate acts as a sweet spot while playing high-end games.
The phone has an extraordinary fluid AMOLED display that emits bright, sharp, vibrant, and punchy colours. The mobile also supports HDR 10+ to capture ultra-dynamic range shots. The in-display fingerprint scanner works faster with high accuracy than previous versions of this brands phones.
The face unlocking feature also performs seamlessly with the same speed and accuracy. The small punch hole 16MP camera at the left side supports to capture great selfies. Overall, the display quality of this mobile stands unique and at an exceptional place.
Oneplus 8 runs on the most powerful Snapdragon 865 processor with 5G (X55 modem) support. The mobile plays with an Android 10 operating system skinned with the blockbuster Oxygen OS of the company.
The Andreno 650 GPU helps the gamers to play high-resolution graphic games without any disappointments. This time Oneplus has given a SAR value card along with the box. The SAR value of Oneplus 8 is fixed at 0.92 w/kg.
The mobile has an NFC supports with other features like Bluetooth 5., Wifi 6, and Wifi calling support. With the help of Wide1 L1 certification, we can stream the HD videos of OTT platforms seamlessly. The UFS 3.0 feature increases the transfer speed and storage speed.
The phone does not have any IP 68 water rating, unlike Oneplus 8 pro, but the phone can be saved from water and dust to some extent. The performance parameter of Oneplus does not have any negative note, and we can say that Oneplus 8 is a real high-performance mobile.
Oneplus 8 has a Triple camera setup--- The first 48MP camera (Sony IMX 586) with f1.75 captures outstanding shots with more details and quality. The dedicated Night mode of the phone grabs the needed details and boosts the dynamic range of the shots. The next 16MP wide-angle camera with f2.2 makes the output shot very clear, punchy and also emits natural colours.
The wide-angle shots can be captured up to 116 degrees without any struggles. The final 2MP macro camera is just for namesake and performs decently. The macro shots with the help of the software offer high dynamic range and punchy outputs. The 16MP (Sony IMX 471) selfie camera with f2.4 offers great quality pictures and emits natural and crisp colours.
The selfie outputs drop a big smile on the face of Tiktok and selfie lovers. We feel that they could have given a telephoto camera or a depth sensor camera to justify the price range of Oneplus 8. On comparing with the previous models of the Oneplus series, the company has downgraded the camera features.
This highly disappoints the camera oriented audience and pushes them to think about other competitors. If you are a camera oriented user, you can also consider Oneplus 8 pro if you can afford a bit higher price.
The 4K video recording @30/60fps with EIS and OIS support drops a little bit smile on our face. The 1080 recordings grab much-needed details with a high stabilisation mode. Overall the video recordings stand exceptional and offer great quality video outputs.
Oneplus 8 is powered with a 4300mAh battery capacity that stands as a positive feature in the list. The mobile has a 30w warp charger support, which quickly pours the power to mobile in a short time.
The negative note over here is, Oneplus 8 does not have wireless charging support. The company could have given the wireless charging feature on looking at the price and rivals. The mobile stays alive for one full day, performing day to day multitaskings with light games.
In India, the OnePlus 8 is sold at a price of ₹ 42,000 for a base variant of 6GB / 128GB. And also, the price of 8GB / 128GB variant is placed at ₹ 45000, and the 12GB / 256GB variant is fixed at ₹ 50000.
On comparing with the previous series of Oneplus, we feel the 8 series are priced high and do not match the features of the phone.
In this price range, the rivals are scoring more than Oneplus and excite the users too. You can consider Samsung Note 10 lite and iPhone SE for this price segment. You can read the review from our site.
